The Oyster Perpetual Pearlmaster 39 by Rolex

“Yellow gold is so African,” the impossibly tall model from Senegal declared, “Too much bling-bling.  Pink gold is elegant, baby.”  We listened, intently, and acknowledge that yellow gold does draw too much attention during stressful situations at crowded frontiers when everyone is waving their passports.  It’s just that we were incorrectly taught that pink gold was merely the integration of copper into gold, thereby diluting the value.  But integration is in, and the more stealthy pink gold will more easily make it through that crowded frontier and into the hand of the person who’s smuggling you to safety.  Enter Rolex’s new Oyster Perpetual Pearlmaster 39, a diamond bejazzled Mercedes-Benz E-Class equivalent resting on your wrist.  The muted tones of Everose Gold and the Pearlmaster’s subdued Aubergine dial, which nests diamonds subtly inside 18 carat gold hour markers, are camouflage by comparison to the same display in garish yellow. The Cyclops lens reminds us all that this watch is for everyday use, so please let us pass.
